Logo Development: Hamilton Mill Presbyterian Church

The Client
Hamilton Mill Presbyterian Church

The Need
Hamilton Mill Presbyterian Church (HMPC) was about to expand from a temporary meeting place to the new construction that was to be their permanent home. As the move became imminent, they desired to design a logo to capture the new life and energy the Lord had started to breathe into their ministry. One of the prime issues facing the church with a logo redesign was the history of many long-time congregation members feeling left out and disregarded as many changes took place. The church needed an end product that would not only capture the vision and dimensions of the ministry, but that would help current members feel included and valued in the process.

The Strategy
After interviewing several firms, Church Graphics.org was selected to guide the church through its unique logo design process, known as BrandU. This innovative approach to ministry logo design uses a variety of creative processes to empower a committee of church members to artistically direct the design of their logo, using the skills of the hired design firm to actualize their design thoughts into digital logo files. Church Graphics.org custom tailored the logo development program to fit with the specific needs of HMPC. The goal was to develop a logo within a six-week period that would serve the growing ministry and bring an inclusive sense to those already involved.

The Solution
Church Graphics.org worked closely with the leadership of HMPC to assemble a creative committee of six that represented a balanced cross-section of the current membership. The team met for several meetings, all led by Church Graphics.org, that offered a progression of brainstorming and creative processes, all leading towards the development of a new church logo. As the meetings progressed, team members offered reports detailing the group’s progress to the congregation. As the team went from brainstorming to looking at raw concepts, to dealing with color, form, and balance, to producing the final logo, each member of the congregation stayed informed by their friends actively involved in the process. When the final logo was presented and implemented, the congregation received the new logo warmly and openly.
